All American Week 2024

May 24th, 2024

All American Week 2024 wrapped up this week. It was a hot and sunny North Carolina week. The Red Falcons, 1-325 AIR, won the most trophies in the events of the week. The guest speaker at the division review was Lieutenant General Christopher Donahue. As promised, he kept his remarks brief - under 2 minutes!

The usual 504th alumni were present. The “green shirts” as well as the signal veterans were out in force. CSM (Ret.) Charlie Thorpe and CSM (Ret.) Thomas Capel were present, along with other past AA9s.

The 82nd Airborne Division Association Banquet was held Thursday evening. During the banquet, the 82nd Airborne Division Commanding General, Major General Patrick Work, gave an update on the division. Of note were some organizational changes coming over the next 18 months. The cavalry units will be collapsing under one guidon and the engineer units will be brought together into the “division engineers”. The engineer lineage will consolidate on the 307th. Additionally, an armor batallion will once again join the division, although these are not capable of being dropped onto the objective. The armor unit consists of three companies worth of M10 Booker tanks and their long logistics line of mechanics and parts. The companies will be direct-support to the infantry brigade combat teams.
